Sri Lanka shares end up 0.15-pct

Jan 14, 2011(LBO) - Sri Lankan stocks closed higher Friday with active trading seen in finance sector, brokers said.

The All Share Price Index closed at 7,032.60, up 0.15 percent (10.72 points) while the Milanka Price Index of more liquid stocks closed at 7,301.09, down 0.35 percent (25.75 points) according to stock exchange provisional figures.

Turnover was 1.7 billion rupees. There were 80 gainers and 99 losers.

First Capital Holdings closed at 24.60, 2.50 rupees with over 3.8 million shares changing hands while Lanka Orix Leasing Company shares closed at 140.80, up 6.60 rupees.

The biggest contributor to turnover Capital Finance Company closed at 900.00, up 41.40 with 189,000 shares done. There were two crossings at 875.00 rupees.

Bairaha Farms closed at 428.20, up 9.80 while Odel closed at 47.80, up 1.10 rupees with over 597,000 shares traded.

Mini-Hydro power operator Panasia Power closed at 4.70, up 0.50 cents with over 29.2 million shares done.

Laugfs Gas voting shares closed at 45.10, down 2.20 with over 2.5 million shares traded.

Sampath Bank closed at 291.70, down 2.00 rupees and Commercial Bank closed at 280.10, up 0.20 cents.
