Bourse ends positve

Colombo bourse closed on a positive note yesterday as ASI closed at 7,058.33 recording a jump of 50.27 points while MPI gained 8.16 points to close at 7,248.20. The market turnover was Rs.3.5 billion.

 The newly listed Singer Finance continued to be the top contributor to the day's turnover (Rs.680.2mn). Singer Finance closed at Rs.50.50 (up by Rs.1.30) after hitting a high of Rs.55.70. Meanwhile Asiri Hospitals and Sierra Cables were among the top contributors to the turnover.

 Lanka Hospitals, Laugfs gas and Panasian power were actively traded throughout the day. Lanka Hospitals reached a high of Rs.42.20 and closed at Rs.37.50, up by Rs.5.10.

 Oil Palms counters (Indo-Malay, Selinsing and Goodhope) were the top gainers today while Motor sector witnessed highest index appreciation. Among motor sector counters, DIMO closed at Rs.1,590.00, up by Rs.201.80 and Colonial Motors closed at Rs.271.00, up by Rs.31.00.

There was a large crossing of Asiri Hospital shares of 41.7 million at Rs.9.00 and the stock closed at Rs.9.00, up 0.20 cents.

 Foreign participation continued to be on the low side and accounted for 5.5% of the total market activity. At the end of the day foreigners were net buyers with a net foreign inflow of Rs.44.5mn.
