Sunshine Travels, a subsidiary of Sunshine Holdings Ltd, one of the leading investment conglomerates in Sri Lanka, are further expanding their business in the hotels segment with substantial investments towards innovative new developments.
The company aims to offer an unique holiday experience through their newly launched umbrella brand Mandira Bungalows, which will feature colonial style boutique bungalows in several locations around the island most with some historical significance.
Mandira Bungalows introduces the unique concept of boutique bungalows with an investment of Rs 30 million in upgrading the two Mandira Bungalows that are currently in operations, Sunshine Travels and Tours Operations Director, Infiyaz Mohomed Ali told Daily News Business.
“There is a huge potential for this type of bungalows. Many tourists are seeking an alternate stay from regular hotel stay. Thus, the company has refurbished and re-launched Mandira Strathdon Bungalow and Mandira Dickoya Bungalow. We are hoping to have total of 15 bungalows within the next year,” he said. The company is expanding their horizons in the hospitality industry by establishing boutique bungalows across the country.
Owned and managed by Watawala Plantations, Strathdon and Dickoya bungalows were built in the early 1900’s in the style of that era to provide a comfortable and somewhat familiar home from home to ‘planters’ who presided over the estates.
