eChanneling Plc has struck a deal with Wataniya Telecom Maldives Ltd., to automate the Maldives medical channeling services.

The Company said the move was as part of its global expansion programme. Under the deal eChanneling will implement its software solutions in the Maldives.

“The software solution will automate the medical channeling services in Maldives. This is the first time the company has undertaken an international software solution project,” eChanneling said.

It also said the partnership with Wataniya will give eChanneling new opportunities in the Maldivian health care software market as well.

The company project team will gain experience in dealing with International markets and customers.
The total project is broken down into 4 stages. Given below are the stages of the partnership. The first stage will involve making available eChannelling services to the Maldivian people to channel Sri Lankan doctors, health checkups and other medical services in Sri Lanka with eChanneling’s 25 partner hospitals.

Under stage two eChanneling will make available its software to channel Maldivian doctors in Maldivian hospitals and medical centres whilst at stage three it will utilise and restructure a data centre with Watanlya Telecom to provide hosted software solutions to the Maldivian medical industry. The fourth stage will see the setting up of a telemedicine helpline in Maldives to provide basic medical advice to its islands and resorts.

Watanlya Telecom was launched back in 1999 and subsequently acquired by the Middle Eastern telecom giant, Qatar Telecom (QTel). After the acquisition QTel provided state- of-the-art products and services to the Maldivian Marketplace through Watanlya Telecom. It has now become the preferred mobile network provider for Maldivian locals and tourists. Watanlya Telecom has gained approximately 50% share of the Maldivian market within a very short period. Qtel has a customer base of over 58 million customers across 17 countries and has become a leading communications operator in the Asian, Middle East and North African regions.

QTe1 has given an undertaking that after completion of the project in Maldives they would look into replicating the software solutions in all other 17 countries jointly with eChanneling Plc.
