SRI LANKA - COLOMBO STOCKS DOWN BY 0.71% DUE TO PROFIT TAKING

16/02/2010 - Colombo Stock Market was down today by 26.47 points to close at 3691.04 & more liquid Milanka index was down by 2.09 points to close at 4193.75.

Turnover for the day was Rs 639 m.n. Local investors were active today than foreigners.Foreign participation was at a minimal levels.Foreigners purchased shares to the value of Rs 30 m.n. & sales were at Rs 80 m.n.

There were 35 positive contributors as against 101 negative contributors.

Kotagala Plantation has reported a staggering profit growth for the three months ended 31/12/2009 with a profit of Rs 245 m.n. YOY as against Rs 44 m.n. negative growth in year 2008. This reflects an earnings per share of Rs 7.68 for the three months as at 31/12/2009.

KOTA has reported improved profits for the nine months ended 31/12/2009 YOY as well. [see above table]
Net assets per share was Rs 53.38 as at 31/12/2009.
E.P.S. for the period was Rs 7.83.

The Stated Capital of the Company of Rs.320,000,010/= is represented by 32,000,000 Ordinary Shares and 01 Golden Share.
