20/01/2010 - Colombo stock exchange reported gains once again to day. ASI was up by 49.11 points to close at 3532.42 & the more liquid Millanka index was up by 60.57 to close at 4071.08. The turnover for the day was healthy Rs 1.2 b.n. We saw gainers across the board & there were 125 gainers against 26 losers. Once again the turn over was supported by local investors. Foreign purchases were at Rs 102 m.n. & foreign sales were 476 m.n. Share prices of the banking counters saw price improvements during the day due to the report released from Central bank of Sri lanka relating to bank taxes.
