SRI LANKA SHARES UP - BACKED BY RETAIL BUYING

15/01/2010 - Sri lanka share market is up once again to day with a turnover generating over Rs 1.5 b.n. Local  investors chasing behind stocks before the presidential elections hoping that much awaited foreign funds may arrived at Colombo stock market after the elections.
Foreign participation was at minimum levels with an out flow of Rs 295 m.n. Foreign purchases were Rs 92 m.n. & sales were Rs 387 m.n.
There were 95 positive contributors as against 50 negative contributors. ASI closed at 3563.14, up by 26.43  points & the Millanka index closed at 4099.28 up by 13.91 points.
Turn over was well supported by hotel sector company shares together with other mid cap shares.
