Claridge becomes 25th brokerage in CSE

A new stockbroking firm called Claridge Stockbrokers Private Limited, started trading operations yesterday at the Automated Trading System (ATS) at the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE).

This was revealed by a circular sent by the CSE to other trading firms of the stock exchange. Accordingly the new company has obtained the license from the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka

Currently there are 25 trading members at the CSE including Claridge. The new broker code assigned to the brokerage is CSL and the broker number is 30.

The new company is part of Mackwoods Group, which is the holding company of listed Agalawatte Plantation. The firm recently advertised looking for financial analysts to fill up the vacancies including a Chief Executive Officer.

Mackwoods is a Conglomerate of several companies engaged in diverse sectors in Sri Lanka including agribusiness, plantations (Tea, Rubber and Oil Palm), healthcare (pharmaceuticals and medical equipment); and Information Technology.

Mackwoods provides employment to approximately 8,500 individuals, and owns and manages 27,000 acres of plantation.
