East West Properties top contributor

Colombo shares ended indecisively yesterday where both benchmark indices closed in the alternate direction.

ASI declined marginally by 6.99 points (-0.10%) to end at 6,812.59 while sensitive MPI gained by 17.94 points to close at 6,230.38.

The market turnover stood at Rs.1.2 billion

East West Properties Plc (Rs.281.9mn) recorded the highest contribution to the turnover.

The Counter displayed high volatility during the day and demonstrated heavy trading. EAST closed at Rs.19.30, up Rs.0.20. In addition Vallibel one Plc (Rs.118.2mn) and Grain Elevators Plc (Rs.89.3mn) made strong contributions to the daily turnover.

In the meantime active trading was depicted by counters such as Lanka Cement Plc, Blue Diamond Jewellery Plc and Three Acre Farms Plc.

Foreign participation stood at 5.0 percent of the total market activity. At the end of the day foreign investors were the net sellers with a net foreign outflow of Rs.10.7mn.
