The Colombo bourse remained in holiday mode with both indices gaining marginally – the All Share up 0.50 points (0.01%) and the Milanka up 12.30 points (0.18%) on a turnover of Rs.582.9 million, down from previous day’s Rs.922.1 million with 81 losers ahead of 52 gainers.
JKH was once again the girl on the beach generating the day’s top turnover of Rs.66.3 million with over 0.2 million shares traded between Rs.294.40 and Rs.299 closing Rs.4.50 up at Rs.299.
"The indices were slightly down most of the day but late afternoon trading saw interest in JKH with available shares cleared at a price of Rs.299," Prashan Fernando of Acuity Stockbrokers said. "This helped to move the indices up."
Interest in non-voting shares of Tokyo Cement continued with 1.6 million shares done between Rs.37.90 and Rs.38.10 with the counter closing flat at Rs.38 contributing Rs.61 million to turnover.
Both Three Acre Farms and Ceylon Grain Elevators as well as Bairaha Farms, all poultry producers, continued to post price gains with TAFL up Rs.4.70 to Rs.71.20 on over 0.5 million shares, Grains up 90 cents to Rs.66.10 on nearly 0.6 million shares and Bairaha up Rs.5 to Rs.224 on 74,700 shares.
Laugfs Gas (voting) which slumped to the issue price on Thursday but closed higher was up 20 cents to Rs.24.60 on nearly 1.2 million shares done between Rs.23.80 and Rs.24.60. The IPO price of this highly sought counter was Rs.23.
Other stocks where quantity was visible included Sampath (91,700 shares), CSF (1.3 million shares), Richard Peiris (2.3 million shares) and Laugfs X (0.8 million shares).
The processing of applications for the Singer Finance IPO was continuing with the issue approximately 120 times over-subscribed up to now, a Stock Exchange filing said.
