Sri Lanka stocks close flat

Dec 17, 2010 (LBO) - Sri Lanka stocks closed flat Friday, with trading seen in the farming sector stocks, brokers said.

The All Share Price Index closed flat at 6,360.84 while the Milanka index of liquid stocks rose 0.18 percent (12.30 points) to close at 6,834.07, according to Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) provisional figures.

Turnover was 582 million rupees. There were 66 gainer and 89 losers.

"There was more retail participation in the market compared with institutional and high-net-worth individual trading," Thilini Yatawara of Bartleet Mallory Stockbrokers said.

Bairaha Farms closed at 223.30, up 5.00 rupees and Three Acre Farms closed at 69.90, up 4.70 rupees.

Among banks Sampath closed at 255.20, down 0.10 cents, HNB closed at 400.00, down 3.00 rupees and DFCC closed at 188.50, down 0.50 cents.

John Keells Holdings closed at 298.90, up 4.50 rupees.
