Tourist arrivals up 48.7 percent

Total arrivals increased to 341,991 during this period, as against 229,952 during the corresponding period of 2009.

July also recorded the highest number of arrivals, at 63,339, since January 2009, which was a 50 percent growth compared to July 2009.

Tourists from North America increased by 71.2 percent to 23,005, Latin American tourists declined 23.5 percent to 346.

West European tourist arrivals grew by 50.2 percent to 136,988, with the highest number of arrivals from the UK at 43, 938 while arrivals from East Europe increased by 23.1 percent to 18,629. African visitors increased by 22.7 percent to 1,038.

Middle Eastern visitors increased by 89.2 percent to 20,627 while arrivals from East Asia increased by 40.1 percent to 34,685.

South Asian tourists increased by 45.8 percent to 89.552, dominated by Indian tourists who amounted to 64,223

Australasian tourist increased by 45.3 percent to 15,320.
