Sri Lanka shares end up 0.2-pct

Feb 01, 2011(LBO) - Sri Lankan stocks closed up Tuesday with active retail trading in the small and mid-cap stocks, brokers said.

The All Share Price Index closed at 7,190.77, up 0.22 percent (15.90 points) while the Milanka Price Index of more liquid stocks closed at 7,121.28, down 0.18 percent (12.99 points) according to stock exchange provisional figures.

Turnover was 3.2 billion rupees.

Actively traded mid-cap stocks like Citrus Leisure closed at 102.40, up 7.50 rupees with over 2.3 million shares done and Laugfs Gas closed at 53.70, down 1.70 with seven million shares changing hands.

P C House closed at 28.40, up 0.90 cents with over four million shares done with retail investors driven to invest in the stock on market speculation, brokers said.

Odel closed at 42.80, down 40 cents.

The fashion retailer's December 2010 quarter net profit rose 35 percent to 76 million rupees from a year ago.
