Sep 15, 2011 (LBO) - Sri Lankan stocks slumped again Thursday with turnover falling further amid continued trading in shares that had drawn speculative, brokers said.
The main All Share Price Index fell 0.65 percent (44.68 points) to 6,850.93, while the more liquid Milanka index fell 0.79 percent (49.16 points) to close at 6,178.49, according to stock exchange figures.
Turnover was 1.4 billion rupees.
Blue Diamonds Jewellery Worldwide voting and non-voting shares were the most actively traded stocks.
Blue Diamonds voting shares closed flat at 11.40 rupees with 9.2 million shares traded while its non-voting shares ended at five rupees, down 10 cents with over 20 million shares done.
Muller and Phipps (Ceylon) was also actively traded, closing at 3.50 rupees, up 30 cents, with over 8.2 million shares done.
HVA Foods was the second biggest loser of the day, closing at 60 rupees, down 6.40, with just over a million shares traded.
There was a crossing or off-market private deal of 124,642 shares of John Keells Holdings at 217.50 rupees each. It closed at 216.80, down two rupees.
