Sri Lanka shares end down 0.4-pct

July 04, 2011 (LBO) - Sri Lankan shares closed 0.41 percent weaker Monday with a low turnover and reduced retail participation, brokers said.

The All Share Price Index closed at 6816.74, down 0.41 percent (27.97 points) while the more liquid Milanka index fell 0.18 percent (11.50 points) to 6332.93 points, according to stock exchange provisional figures.

Turnover was just 845 million rupees.

Blue Diamonds Jewellery Worldwide was the most actively traded stock, closing at 9.10 rupees, up 50 cents with more than 06 million shares traded.

Royal Ceramics was the main contributor to the day's turnover, closing at 154.70 rupees, down 3.50 rupees with over 456,800 million shares changing hands.

John Keells Holdings closed at 206.80 rupees, down 02 rupees with 319,000 shares done, generating 66 million rupees.

Associated Motor Finance Company closed at 300 rupees, up 50 percent or 100 rupees. Singalanka Standard Chemicals closed at 2,090.90, up 287.20 or 15.92 percent. Keels Food Products closed at 125.20 rupees, up 15.20 rupees or 13.82 percent.
