Marginal ASI gain

The market ended on opposite yesterday as ASI gained marginally by 6.80 index points (+0.1%) to close at 6,682.46 while more liquid MPI lost 18.20 points (-0.29%) to close at 6,180.05.Daily market turnover was Rs 1.4 billion.

Market heavyweights John Keells Holdings (Rs 187.7mn), Aitken Spence Hotel Holdings (Rs 128.9mn) and Asian Hotels & Properties (Rs 94.6mn) topped the turnover list recording several off-the-floor deals.

Meanwhile, York Arcade Holdings, Vallibel One and Softlogic Holdings attracted heavy investor interest during the day.

Nanda Investments & Finance Limited which listed in the CSE by an introduction yesterday was the top gainer. However, only one transaction comprising 100 shares was traded at a price of Rs 18.60 which is Rs 16.90 increase over the reference price of Rs 1.70.

At the end of trading 10 percent price band was imposed on CLPL.W.0012 with effect from July 21, 2011 to July 27, 2011. CLPL warrant 2011 reached the high of Rs 6.00 and closed at Rs 4.10, down Rs 2.30.
