Apart from the crossing which generated Rs.1.4 billion, floor trades of nearly 0.4 million ComBank contributed a further Rs.36.9 million to the day’s business volumes. The bank was the biggest turnover generator on the trading floor too.
Both indices were up, with the All Share gaining 40.79 points (0.72%) and S&P SL20 up 5.59 points (0.18%) with a turnover of Rs.1.68 billion, up from the previous trading day’s Rs.289.3 million with 192 gainers strongly outpacing 42 losers while 77 counters closed flat.

"The ASPI ended higher on the first trading day of the new year, amid gains in several large cap counters. Turnover crossed Rs. 1bn primarily on the back of crossings on COMB, which accounted for over 80% of market turnover," John Keells Stockbrokers said.
ComBank, both on the crossing as well as floor trades was responsible for the lion’s share of the day’s business with other contributors including Nation Lanka Finance with over 3.1 million shares traded and Asia Asset Finance with nearly 4.2 million shares traded.
ComBank closed 60 cents up at Rs.103.60 on the floor, trading between Rs.103.20 and Rs.104.
