High retail participation

The Colombo bourse commenced operations for the new week indecisively yesterday.

The Colombo stocks cruised away to a gain of 30 to 40 points in early part of trading where a loss in momentum was witnessed in the latter part to end trading in a negative territory. ASI dropped 4.08 points (-0.06 percent) to close at 7,373.14 while sensitive MPI gained by 8.09 points (+0.12 percent) to end trading at 7,032.72.

Daily market turnover reached Rs 1.4 billion.

High retail participation was shown during most part of trading.

PC House Plc emerged as the top contributor to the turnover at Rs 151.6 million.

The counter was highly traded during market hours with active level of profit realization were demonstrated.

In addition John Keells Holdings Plc (Rs 136.9 million) and Guardian Capital Partners Plc (Rs 104.9 million) made notable contributions to the daily turnover.
