Bourse closes on mixed note

The Colombo Stock Exchange dipped a marginal 0.06 percent on Monday, with All Share Price Index losing 4.08 points to close at 7,373.14. The Milanka Price Index of more liquid stocks edged up 0.12 percent to close at 7,032.72, up 8.09 points. Turnover reached Rs. 1,354.56 million. There was a net inflow of foreign investments amounting to Rs. 100.74 million.

John Keells Stock Brokers said the best performing sector was the Information Technology sector which gained 1.81 percent while the worst performing sector was Telecommunications, down 1.95 percent.

"The indices edged higher during early hours of trading before ending the day on a mixed note while activity levels, dominated by local retail investors, remained low," John Keells Stock Brokers said.

A little more than 7.37 million shares changed hands at Rs. 19.90.

Harischandra Mills PLC saw its share price jump 42.8 percent to close at Rs. 1,500 and Singalanka Standard Chemicals saw its share price move up 29.7 percent to close at Rs. 1,277.80 to be the biggest movers of the day.
