Sri Lanka shares close 1.24-pct lower

Mar 01, 2011(LBO) - Sri Lanka stocks closed 1.24 percent lower Tuesday with losses in the illiquid shares and some index heavy stocks, brokers said.

The All Share Price Index closed at 7,701.19, down 1.24 percent (96.77 points) while the Milanka Price Index of more liquid stocks closed at 7,096.56, down 0.62 percent (44.36 points) according to stock exchange provisional figures.

Turnover was 2.7 billion rupees.

Guardian Capital Partners voting shares closed at 2,177.80, down 735.50 rupees. The company issued 22 million rights at 22.00 rupees. The share closed at 500.00 rupees.

Dialog Axiata closed at 11.40, down 0.40 cents with over 8.9 million shares traded.

Sampath Bank closed at 288.00, down 3.80 rupees. There were two crossings at 290.00 rupees.
