Another group of Tokyo-based investors with investments worth Rs.1 billion will be in town next month, in addition to the team from Tokyo AIM (a subsidiary of the Tokyo Stock Exchange) presently visiting the country, New World Securities (NWS) official said.
A key investor and a director at NWS, Mangala Boyagoda speaking to Mirror Business said, the investors who are supposed to visit the island will explore opportunities in investing in local listed companies.
“They are hoping to invest about Rs. 1 billion,” he said adding that the team from TSE will be initially
exploring opportunities and possibilities of making Sri Lankan companies be listed in Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE).
Boyagoda further noted that the team from Tokyo AIM will be meeting Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) and the Central Bank officials today. They are expected to leave the country on May 25.
