Sri Lanka stocks close 0.6-pct lower

Mar 12, 2012 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's stocks closed 0.58 percent lower Monday with illiquid stocks falling in thin trade, though foreign investors were net buyers and some large caps stocks gained, dealers said.

 The benchmark Colombo All Share Index closed down 31.8 points at 5,424.4 points and the Milanka Index of liquid stocks fell 0.25 percent (12.19 points) to close at 4,809.45 points.

 Turnover was 378 million rupees. Foreign investors bought 139 million rupees of stocks and sold 17.3 million rupees worth.

Market capitalization slipped below two trillion to 1,988.

Abans Electrical fell 16.20 rupees to close at 133.80, Amaya Leisure fell 9.00 rupees to 70.00, Aviva NDB fell 5.90 to 204.10, Beruwala Walk Inn - bare land with no hotel - fell 31.80 rupees to 136.70.

Ceylinco Insurance rose 47.50 to 750.00 rupees, Diesel and Motor Engineering rose 30.20 to 1,040, John Keells Holdings rose 4.00 rupees to 193.30 rupees.
