CIC Agri Ventures to the Middle East

CIC Agri Businesses ,a leading Agri Business Conglormerate in Sri Lanka has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Sulaiteen Agricultural & Industrial Complex (SAIC),the largest Private Sector Agriculture Company in the State of Qatar with a view of forming a Joint Venture Company shortly.

 According to a spokesman of CIC Agri Businesses ,CIC will initially export Outdoor and Indoor Plants, Rice, Fresh Fruits, and Vegetables to the markets in Qatar having identified them as the initial areas to focus on in order to enter into the market.

In addition the two Companies will also explore the possibilities of establishing projects in the field of Tissue Culture Propagation, Fresh Water Aquaculture, Fruit Production Research in Seed Production and look into the Feasibility of Banana production.

 SAIC is the largest Private Sector Agri Business Company in Qatar and produces over 100 acres of Vegetables under Poly Tunnels and in open fields. In addition the Company also grows some selected ornamental and flower plants under poly tunnels.

 The Company which  is currently involved in large scale research on Desert Agriculture is also the largest landscaping Company in the State of Qatar.

CIC Agri Business on the other hand has a strong Agri Presence in the island where it owns five large farms and works with over 25,000 out growers to produce Seed Paddy,Rice,Maize Fruits,Vegetables etc.From a single Agri- input Company,CIC Agri Businesses has grown to an Agri Business conglomerate  today and has acquired  market  leadership in many Agri Business sectors.

 Mr Keerthi Kotagama  MD/CEO CIC Agri Businesses and Abdulah Salem Al Sulaiteen Chairamn of SAIC signed the MOU in Qatar earlier this week.
