Lanka’s annual reports win top honours Dimo, Dipped Products reports in world top 100

League of American Communications Professionals (LACP) honoured 14 annual reports of Sri Lanka recently for quality and innovation. The reports of several top companies in the country while two of these companies made it to the top 100, giving the countrycorporate image a big boost.

Smart Media, the Annual Report Company, was awarded the Gold for Agency of the Year in the Asia Pacific Region.

"Participating for the first time it is an honour to gain such recognition globally," said Chairman Smart Media, Dr. Vijith Kannangara.

Nine out of the top 500 Fortune companies’ participated in the LACP competition and over 4,000 entries from 28 countries were present.

He said that only 15 percent out of the total applications were eligible for any sort of an award and Sri Lanka made it to the list.

Diesel and Motor Engineering Company who won gold in its category also won the gold for most engineering Annual report in Asia and was ranked 61 out of the top 100 annual reports.

Dipped Product won silver in its category as well as the silver for the best report cover in Asia and was ranked 91 among the top 100.

Smart Media won the gold for the best agency in Asia pacific region.

Further awarded companies were Seylan Bank, Hayleys, NTB, Thalawakelle Tea Estate, Islamic Business Unit of LOLC and Business for Peace Alliance.

"Dimo and Dipped Products Annual Reports making it to the global top 100 list was a significant achievement participating with key global corporate brands such as Bertelsmann AG ranked No 1; Adidas Group ranked No. 4; Thomson Reuters ranked No. 5; US Department of State ranked No. 6; Commerzbank AG ranked No. 8, Bayer AG ranked No. 44; Bank of China ranked No. 47; Heineken ranked No. 53; Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG ranked No. 54; WPP ranked No. 60; China Telecom ranked No. 65; Coca-Cola Enterprises ranked No. 77; Pfizer ranked No. 82; Kellogg Company ranked No. 89; and Sobha Developers of India ranked No. 93," Kannangara said.

He said the key behind the success was the quality of the report Smart Media produces and no Smart Media has reached out to the global market hoping to win more awards, "We are present in 10 countries outside of Sri Lanka and we hope to expand bringing more honour to the country,"
