Breaking News - Lankan share price bands to be lifted next week

The controversial price bands in the Colombo bourse- which has drawn mixed reaction from brokers and investors - are to be withdrawn next week, sources at the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) said on Thursday.

"A decision (on these lines) will be taken at the next meeting of the SEC Commissioners on August 25," one source said, adding that other measures to control market manipulation to curb wild price hikes would be enforced.

The 10 % price band or curbs which restricts price movements up or down, was enforced more than two weeks ago after sharp prices increases in some stocks. (DEC)
