Market ends in red

The stock market shrugged off another sluggish operational day and ended-up in deep red. However notable gains were displayed by counters such as Kalamazoo Systems Plc (up Rs 1500.00), Singer Industries Plc (up Rs 65.00) and Blue Diamonds Jewellery Plc (up Rs 1.20).

ASI weakened by 36.84 points (-0.5 percent) and closed at 7,257.70 while MPI ended at 6,779.06, down 19.17 points (-0.2 percent).

Market turnover stood at Rs 3.3 billion.

Panasian Power Plc (PAP) continued its dominance in turnover with a substantial amount of Rs 719.5 million, along with counters such as John Keells Holdings Plc (Rs 510.2 million) and Brown and Company Plc (Rs 357.8 million).

PAP also recorded to be the most actively traded counter during the day while recording a crossing of 5 million shares at a price of Rs 7.80.

Meanwhile Colombo Land and Development Plc and Nation Lank Finance Plc witnessed aggressive investor participation.

Foreign participation was low at 8.80 percent of the total market activity. At the end of the day foreign investors were net sellers with a net foreign outflow of Rs 88.3 million. -  Lanka Securities Research
