May 19, 2011 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's Diesel and Motor Engineering Company said profits rose 379 percent to 664 million rupees in the March 2011 quarter with revenues rising 125 percent to 8.5 billion according to interim results.
Sri Lanka's vehicles sales rocketed following a tax cut last year but in April taxes were raised again but not to the same high levels as earlier. Dimo has agencies for Tata and Mercedes Benz.
In the full year to March 2011, Dimo reported revenues of 29.3 billion rupees, up 179 percent and profits of 2.1 billion rupees, up 755 percent.
The firm reported earnings per share of 243.81 rupees for the full year and 76.34 rupees for the March quarter.
