Sri Lanka stocks end up 0.5-pct

Nov 12, 2010 (LBO) - Sri Lankan stocks closed higher Friday in thin trade as businesses recovered from devastating floods in the capital Colombo caused by heavy rains the day before, brokers said.

The All Share Price Index closed at 6,600.06, up 0.46 percent (30.45 points) while the more liquid Milanka index rose 0.50 percent (35.41 points) to close at 7,157.95, according to stock exchange provisional figures.

Turnover was 648 million rupees.

Three Acre Farms, a poultry firm, was one of the most actively traded stocks and the highest gainer of the day, ending at 43.50, up 5.20 rupees or almost 14 percent, with 315,000 shares traded.

Commercial Bank, also actively traded, closed at 274 rupees, up 10 cents.

There was also active trading in Piramal Glass Ceylon which closed at 4.70 rupees, up 20 cents, with 3.3 million shares traded.
