The natural rubber prices have continued to rise in all rubber producing nations in Asia. In Sri Lanka scattered rains have been reported in rubber growing areas and as a result supply is likely to get curtailed even more, pushing the prices to further heights.
"Robust fundamentals are supporting the natural rubber prices at the moment and therefore a possible downside is limited" a local commodities broker said. Thailand being the biggest natural rubber producing country in the world, the tight supply is causing the buyers to panic and the arrivals to the main Thai Central Markets have been limited. Un Smoked Sheets (USS) equivalent to local Ribbed Smoked Sheets (RSS) are currently trading between THB153.39 to 153/89 per kilo whilst some factories are supposed to be paying THB156-157 outside the Central Markets.
Reports from Singapore (SiCOM) also suggest rising demand for natural rubber futures.
