Sampath wins Banker of The Year 2010 award

Sampath Bank has once again won the Banker of the Year award for 2010. Sampath Bank also received Banker of the Year in 2009.

The Banker of the Year Award is given in recognition of the bank’s growth and achievements during the year.

Sampath Bank’s outstanding results came during a period of negative credit growth resulting from shrinking export markets; the bank’s impressive results more than adequately fulfilled the comprehensive criteria required by the evaluation process of the Banker of the Year Award. All key financial ratios such as the Net Interest Margin, Return on Assets, Return of Equity and Capital Adequacy Ratios were confirmed as positive while NPL ratio was consistently maintained almost at the same levels despite changing industry dynamics. During 2010, Sampath Bank consistently maintained the momentum gained in business growth and profitability. “As a totally Sri Lankan bank committed to giving our customers, our shareholders and our country the best combination of performance and growth, we at Sampath Bank are proud of the recognition we have achieved in the global banking arena yet again.

“Behind our success is the unwavering confidence of our customers, the support of our shareholders and the commitment to excellence of our staff,” Sampath Bank Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer Harris Premaratne said.
