08/02/2010 - Colombo Stock Exchange was up by 2.23% on back of extra ordinary quarterly reports released by the Sri lankan listed firms.
ASI was up by 82.65% to close at record 3789.37 & more liquid Milanka index was up by 104.57 points to close at 4373.75 .
Turnover for the day was Rs 2.5 b.n.
Local investors were active on the market as usual & there were some improvement in foreign activities as well today. However foreigners remain as net sellers in the market with an out flow of Rs 126 m.n. It was a positive sign to witness that the gap between foreign buying & selling is getting narrowed down slowly. Foreign purchases were Rs 587 m.n. & selling was Rs 713 m.n.
Today we saw prices of the counters moved up across the board.There were 118 positive counters as against 41 negative counters.
Today's high turnover was supported by a large transaction in Asia Capital. The company said in a communique to stock exchange that Mr.V Vijayaratnam has increased his stake to 87% in the company.
